Ewashko Singers welcomes Alireza Tarviji as apprentice conductor for the 2025-2026 season.
The Apprentice Conductor Program provides a young prospective choral conductor with the valuable experience of working with a semi-professional choir, with additional one-on-one mentoring from Artistic Director Laurence Ewashko.

On May 24, 2025, in memory of William Teron, OC, the "Father of Kanata", Ewashko Singers performed Brahms' Ein Deutches Requiem directed by Laurence Ewashko, accompanied on piano by Carson Becke and Suren Barry of Duo Octavian, and featuring soloists Meghan Lindsay (soprano) and Cameron Martin (baritone). The evening also featured works by Kuzmenko, Lysenko, and Leontovych performed by Grayson Nesbitt (tenor) and Jonathan Raine (piano).

On May 2-3, 2025, Ewashko Singers joined Seventeen Voyces to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 1925 silent classic film with selections from Carmina Burana and various works.

On March 14-15, 2025, Ewashko Singers featured in New Opera Lyra's spectacular fully staged production of Sergei Rachmaninoff's dramatic one-act opera Aleko. Our opera chorus joined a cast of brilliant Canadian singers, ballerina Clare Bassett, the Kalinka Women's Russian Dance Ensemble, Ukrainian choreographer Tetiana Avramenko, and an orchestra of Ottawa's finest musicians under New Opera Lyra guest-conductor Norman E. Brown.

On December 7, 2024, Ewashko singers presented a Christmas Concert with the Ottawa Children's Choir including Britten's Ceremony of Carols featuring Lucile Hildesheim on harp.

Ewashko singers' Fall 2024 season opened with a collaboration with Ottawa Pops Orchestra performing Hero of the Past, a symphonic journey through the beloved music of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. This re-orchestrated and expanded arrangement, originally composed by Koji Kondo and arranged by Alexandre Choinière, brings the game's iconic soundtrack to life with the full power of a symphony orchestra and chorus, featuring Latin translations by Olivier Simon.

Former conductor of the Vienna Boys’ Choir and Cantata Singers of Ottawa, Laurence Ewashko celebrates his 33rd season of choral activity in the National Capital Region. As a choral clinician, vocal coach and adjudicator, he makes a significant contribution to the quality and appreciation of vocal music in Canada and abroad.
A Full Professor of Choral Studies at the University of Ottawa, he conducts the School of Music’s two choirs. Laurence is a recipient of the prestigious Leslie Bell Prize for Choral Conducting and numerous awards from the Canada Council of the Arts.
